Yr 4 Hertfordshire Zoo

Dear Year 4 Parents,
Hertfordshire Zoo
On Wednesday 22nd April, in connection with Year 4’s topic of “Living Things and their
Habitats”, we have arranged a very exciting trip for Year 4 to visit Hertfordshire Zoo in
Broxbourne. We will have time to explore the park and animals, whilst completing activities
along the way.
The cost per child will be £18.00, which includes admission and workshop fees, and transport.
We are delighted to say this trip has been generously part-funded by Friends of Grove (FOG).
On the day the children should wear their school uniform and a waterproof coat as we will be
mostly outside during the day.
All children will require a healthy packed lunch and drink(s) for this trip, in a small ruck sack,
which they will carry with them all day. Please not send your child with any canned or fizzy
drinks.
We will also need a small number of adult helpers. If you would like to help on this trip, please
speak to your class teacher. We are only able to take a certain number of parent helpers, due
to ratios required and seats on the coach.
Children will need to be at school early on this day, promptly by 8.15am on this day and we
will be back by normal collection time.
If your child suffers from travel sickness, please also notify us prior to the trip as medication
forms need to be completed prior to the trip. Travel sickness medication must come in its’
original packaging with dosing amount. Forms are available from the school office.
Parental consent and payment are requested using our online system: School Gateway
www.schoolgateway.com. This needs to be completed by Wednesday 25th March.
Payment for activities taking place during the school day are considered a voluntary contribution,
however, we must emphasise that if all parents do not contribute this amount, the trip may not
be able to go ahead. In cases of financial difficulty, please contact Mrs Wheeler to discuss
payments options.
