The children in Reception had the best week leading up to the Tring Apple Parade. After reading 'The Scarecrow's Hat', the children made their own 'sporty' scarecrow as part of this years theme. Our scarecrow was a Paralympic basketball player who went on to WIN best scarecrow of the year. Well done to everyone in Nursery and Reception who contributed to the wonderful event.
Year 5 went out into the sunshine for their maths lesson yesterday, measuring each others' heights and standing jumps. They measured using the metric system of metres and centimetres and converted each measurement into m and cm. They also then ordered the decimal measurements from shortest to longest. Well done, team!
All our classes have been working hard on their lightbox design for Waddesdon Manor this week. Grove Road have been tasked with creating the lightbox designs for the Christmas display this year around the theme of Nursery Rhymes. 1BA's nursery rhyme is Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Every child in the class contributed to sticking on different shades of blue to create the night sky. We hope that if you are visiting Waddesdon Manor this Christmas that you will see our lightbox!
Year 1 continued our learning about 'Animals' today and focused on Humans. We discussed the names of different body parts, where they are on our bodies and what we use them for. We took our learning outside and used chalk to draw around each other's bodies. We then labelled the parts.
In French, year 5 have been learning about money and how it differs in France compared to the UK. They looked at coins and notes and compared Euros and pounds. Anyone going to France over half-term can practise using Euros to pay for things and also practise speaking French when ordering food in a cafe!
